Pedestrian fatally struck on Victoria Avenue near Teal Club Road

OXNARD, CA (July 13, 2026) - A 33-year-old man was fatally struck by two vehicles in a pedestrian accident in Oxnard early Monday morning, authorities said.

According to police, Tyler Black was struck by two vehicles, a Honda Accord and a Ford Raptor pickup truck, at about 4:45 a.m. on Victoria Avenue just south of Teal Club Road. Black was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Drivers struck and killed 7,148 people walking in the United States in 2024, which is nearly 20% higher than the 2016 level.

According to the Governors' Highway Safety Association (GHSA), pedestrian deaths are increasing at a rate far faster than overall traffic fatalities. Between 2009 and 2023, pedestrian deaths rose 80%, while all other traffic fatalities increased 13%.

Pedestrians can be hit due to a combination of factors, including speeding, driver error, distracted driving, and impaired driving.
